Two separate individuals heterozygous for supernumerary segments on pairs 8 and 9 respectively and four individuals carrying mitotically unstable B-chromososmes have been detected in a population from Tucumán (Argentina). The total number of chiasmata and the proportion of interstitial chiasmata per cell were compared between stages from early diplotene to MI. These comparisons indicated that terminalization in this species is limited to diplotene. The total number of chiasmata per cell was compared between B + and B – individuals. B’s have no effect on the mean number of chiasmata per cell but tend to increase the between cell variance. © 1985 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.  |l eng
