536 |a Detalles de la financiación: Some experiments were carried out with muscle ~-glucan phosphorylase. Either a purified preparation 8 or the above-mentioned glycerol extract (which also has phosphorylase activity) were used, and as shown in Fig. I, the results were very similar to those obtained with UDPG--glycogen glucosyltransferase. Several synthetic nucleoside diphosphate sugars were tested as donors. ADP-glucose was found to be 50% as effective as UDPG of the same molarity, while CDP-glucose, IDP-glucose, and ADP-maltose did not serve as substrates for the enzyme. "l~i~ investigation was supported in part by a research grant (No. G-3442 ) from the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Public Health Service, by the Rockefeller Foundation and by the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Cientificas y TOcnicas. Specia~ ~.~an~,~ ,tre c',~, to Dr. L. F. LELOIR for his continued guidance and support; ', Drs. R. BRYKS and I. D. ALGRANATIf or help with the preparation of the oligosaccharides; to Dr. E. RECONDO for samples of the nucleoside diphosphate sugars; and to Dr. C. E. CARDINI for a kind gift of radioactive maltotetraose.
