<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">Faced with the bare comment that Aristotle makes regarding the incorporation of a third actor by Sophocles to the tragedy, interpretive criticism agrees in understanding that this innovation enables sophisticated dramatic effects. The purpose of this paper is to attempt to specify the role of this third actor on stage in Sophocles’ Ajax and, therefore, what this sophisticated dramatic effect consists in.</dc:description>
<dc:description xml:lang="es-ES">Frente al escueto comentario que Aristóteles hace respecto de la incorporación de un tercer actor a la tragedia por parte de Sófocles la crítica interpretativa coincide en entender que esta innovación “dio pie a sofisticados efectos dramáticos”. El propósito del presente artículo es tratar de precisar la función de este tercer actor en escena en la tragedia Áyax de Sófocles y, por lo tanto, en qué consiste ese sofisticado efecto dramático.</dc:description>
