Sumario:These plutons are epizonal bodies whose compositions are basic to intermediate (Cerro Caquel), intermediate (Tapera de Burgos) and intermediate to acid (Arroyo El Rapido). Major element relationships indicate metaluminous to weakly peraluminous characteristics and calcalkaline affinites; the main petrographic types, gabbro, diorite, quartz-monzodiorite, tonalite and granodiorite, together with other petrological features, indicate I-type magmatism. The plutons have distinct K/Ar ages: Middle Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous (Cerro Caquel), Upper Cretaceous (Arroyo El Rapido) and Oligocene (Tapera de Burgos). Basic sources, advocated universally in the genesis of Andean magmatism, can be proposed here on the basis of the close association of basic and intermediate rocks and in their coexistence with volcanic sequences of similar composition. -from English summary
