Sumario:A formulation for the wind speed profile in the atmospheric boundary layer in neutral and diabatic conditions is evaluated. The proposed vertical variations depend on the turbulent state of the atmospheric boundary layer described in terms of the friction velocity and the stability conditions. The availability of tower data as well as published results from tall masts allowed the evaluation of the performance of the proposed formulation for a variety of conditions. The wind speed profiles compare adequately with the observational data. © 2018 Hungarian Meteorological Service. All Rights Reserved.
