Sumario: | This paper reports on an archeological research project carried out in the southwest of Chubut Province during which the Dásovich Rockshelter near Río Mayo was excavated. The objective of the paper is to present both the first results of the excavation and the 12 radiocarbon dates available in order to contribute to the study of Chubut's prehistory. The earliest date obtained at Dásovich Rockshelter was 10,000 years BP, an importantly early date for Patagonian prehistory. As well as the presentation of preliminary results, possible relationships are suggested among this site and other neighbor sites within the province, the adjacent areas of Chile, and the northwest of Santa Cruz. |
