Longitudinal recoil-ion momentum distribution in ionization collisions by neutral projectiles near the kinematical threshold
In a previous paper it has been shown that the longitudinal recoil-ion momentum (RIM) distribution for the single ionization of atoms by charged ions exhibits a finite value at the kinematic threshold. Sumario: | In a previous paper it has been shown that the longitudinal recoil-ion momentum (RIM) distribution for the single ionization of atoms by charged ions exhibits a finite value at the kinematic threshold. This structure can be ascribed to the divergence of the electron capture to the continuum peak in the ionization cross section. We generalize this result for the case of a neutral projectile. In particular we show that a sharp peak of the RIM distribution at the threshold can occur for given final-state electron-projectile systems. © 1996 The American Physical Society. |
