Sumario: | Solutions of commercial and pure CMC and polyacrylamide were characterized by studying their rheological behavior. The electrochemical method, using a flow cell and the rotating disk electrode, was employed for measuring molecular diffusivities in these solutions. An anomalous behavior was found for the polyacrylamide solutions and diffusion coefficients could not be determined. The diffusivities obtained for solutions containing CMC were used in the evaluation of mass transfer experiments and inappropriate results appeared in the case of solutions containing commercial CMC. An attempt is made to explain these irregularities. © 1986. |
