Sumario: | This paper presents a new species found in water and surface sediment samples from the Jáchal River, in San Juan Province, Argentina. This new species belongs to the group of species related to Cymbella helvetica Kützing, which do not have apical pore fields. It can be distinguished from known species of the group by its combination of morphometric and morphological features, such as the ventral deflection of the proximal raphe fissures, and the shape of the apex. © 2018, © 2018 The International Society for Diatom Research. |
