Sumario:The distribution and physiognomical and floristic characterization of the different vegetal communities of the Municipal land of San Carlos de Bariloche and its surroundings are analyzed. A thematic base data that can be used with sustainable planning aims, present biodiversity conservation and recovery of natural areas. The analysis and interpretation of the Aster image, allowed the authors to identify and classify the vegetation through the separation of the different spectral lines, corresponding to the main vegetal formations in each physiognomic unit, obtaining as a result a map of the present vegetation. Transition from forest to steppe is clearly observed, with varied vegetal physiognomies that include humid forest, mixed forests, shrubs (matorrales), wetlands (mallines), steppe-shrubs and steppes.
