Sumario:A revision of the genus Bovistoides Lloyd was undertaken, as a result of which it was confirmed that the holotype B. simplex, is a weathered, imperfect specimen of Myriostoma coliforme. Consequently Bovistoides becomes a synonym of Myriostoma as suggested by Long and Sunhede. The second known species included by Lloyd in the genus -B. torrendii-is the holotype of a new genus proposed by Ponce de León, namely Acutocapillitium.
