Sumario:Fluctuations of humic substances and phytoplankton primary production in Chascomus Pond were studied in one year period, in which a heavy rainfall promoted important changes in physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the pond. As a consequence, an in crease of humic substances of high molecular weight coming from the drainage basin was observed, as well as a significative increment of activity and efficiency of the phytoplankton primary production. A relation between these two facts is discussed in terms of the influence of humic substances on the photosynthetic process.
