Sumario: | Lower Jurassic deposits of the middle section (19 m) of Remoredo Formation at Arroyos Montanes, Montanesito and El Yeso, and their oncoids are described. Three main facies are considered: limestones with oncoids, claystones and pyroclastics. According to layer configuration the oncoids can be assigned to Type I and hybrids I3-I. The continuous micritic laminations suggest agitated conditions, and the discontinuous laminations reflect short periods of non agitation or tranquility. The oncoids are associated with a well preserved faunal assemblage of ostracods and some fragments of bivalves that are indicative of shallow water conditions. The facies are interpreted as the products of deposition in a shallow-water lake, constituting a coarsening-upward sequence and a progressive infilling by pyroclastic subaqueous flows. -from English summary |
