Sumario:The work seeks to discuss concepts and approaches regarding the analysis and intervention in watersheds that cross metropolis. To meet this goal, the article reviews aspects of the theories of space, and how systems theory as a conceptual basis has attended both water basin analysis, and the concept of ecosystem. The metropolis is analyzed as a complex ecosystem as it usually contains, generally in part, one or more watersheds. The analysis of how the elements of the metropolitan ecosystem and the water basin are linked, account for a tension between the two systems, both for understanding the phenomena and for his intervention. The metropolis of Buenos Aires is the case where these concepts come into play, to finally establish some problems and dilemmas of watershed governance in metropolitan regions.
