Sumario:An essential tool for land and ecosystem management is ecological zoning. The Holdridge life zones system is an ecological zoning model that identifies bioclimatic units (life zones) based on climatic variables, latitude, and altitude. Argentina has great environmental variability however it currently lacks an objective and detailed ecological zoning. The aim of this dissertation is to identify and map the bioclimatic units of Argentina from the Holdridge ecological model as an application tool to quantify the ecological diversity of the country, to understand the environmental framework where land use is developed and the management of the conservation of biodiversity, and to assess the potential consequences of climate change.
