Sumario:Independent music has been growing during the last 15 years thanks to, among other reasons, its use of digital technologies and capacity of generating work opportunities and social participation. With the objective of exploring its reality in Avellaneda, in this resesarch project whose first results we present in this paper, we appeal to a qualitative methodological strategy based on interviews and observations as also including a triangulation of quantitative data from primary and secondary sources. After reaching the initial phase of data gathering, we present a first diagnosis of this phenomenon describing some of its dimensions and aspects (live concerts frequency, digital technologies use, contractual agreements, among others), with the aim of generating debate on the importance of music dynamic in a district as Avellaneda and drawing attention to independent music production at cultural management studies in trying to collaborate with future approaches.
