The emergence of area and country studies in China has paralleled the Reform and Opening-up policy. It aims to promote people's understanding of the world, broaden their horizons, learn from the experiences of other countries and foreign civilizations to improve relations with other countries and contribute to their own development. As China intensifies its exchanges with the rest of the world, it not only needs to better understand the global context, but also adjust its international linkage strategies in response to geopolitical shifts. This requires a high level of knowledge, talents and skills in the field of area and country studies. In recent years, Chinese academia has widely debated on how to strengthen these studies, reaching certain consensus. Through a review of existing literature and a statistical analysis, this article reveals the gaps between current studies on Argentina and the established disciplinary objectives. It is argued that research on Argentina, although with its own particularities, shares similar challenges to those of other studies on non-English-speaking, small and medium-sized, and not bordering China countries, such as internal imbalances in disciplinary development, overemphasis on conjunctural issues, shortage of specialized scholars, limited intellectual exchange with foreign researchers, and insufficient channels for publishing results. However, the institutionalization of area and country studies as a discipline, the emergence of multidimensional and interdisciplinary talents and the diversification of academic journals could significantly advance Argentina studies in China in the future. |

Después de la fundación de la República Popular China, debido a la gran distancia geográfica entre China y Argentina y la falta de relaciones formales entre ambos países, los intercambios entre las dos naciones fueron muy limitados. El 19 de febrero de 1972, China y Argentina establecieron relaciones diplomáticas, hecho que marcó el inicio de una nueva etapa en las relaciones bilaterales. El interés académico chino por Argentina comenzó después de la Reforma y Apertura. Durante las décadas de 1980 y 1990, antes de que las relaciones entre China y Argentina entraran en una fase de rápido desarrollo, los académicos chinos ya habían comenzado a investigar temas relacionados con la política, economía, sociedad, cultura y relaciones internacionales de Argentina. Después de 50 años de esfuerzos, la academia china ha producido numerosos resultados académicos sobre Argentina. Los estudios sobre Argentina, como parte de los estudios regionales y de países, son un puente clave para que China profundice su conocimiento del país. Su desarrollo refleja el impacto de las relaciones entre China y Argentina en el ámbito académico y de ciencias sociales. Este artículo comenzará analizando el contexto de la apertura de China y examinando la importancia de los estudios regionales y de países (en adelante, ERyP) para China y cómo deberían llevarse a cabo en la nueva situación. Luego, a través de un análisis bibliográfico, revisará exhaustivamente el panorama de los estudios sobre Argentina en China desde el establecimiento de las relaciones diplomáticas, con un resumen de las principales características y tendencias de estos estudios, identificará sus fortalezas y debilidades y proporcionará referencias para futuras investigaciones más profundas y amplias.
