| Sumario: | Throughout this paper I will reflect on the so-called “dependency theory”, considering its origins, evolution,
current possibilities and perspectives.
Initially, I´ll refer to the context in which the theory was conceived, its background, key aspects and doctrinal
trends that channeled it.
After considering some critical observations, I will highlight some of impacts and relevant results of the
theory on the ground of the ideas and public policies, in order to refer briefly to its evolution in Latin America
until the times of Globalization.
Finally, and after a description of the current scenario and its salient features, Il´l make different
considerations about the current usefulness of dependency theory, its new challenges and perspectives. |
