Sumario:Abstract: Despite there is consensus among the specialists regarding the general sense of the ancient Egyptian Sed Festival (the renewal of the king’s potencies) our knowledge about its secuencies is partial and fragmentary. To give a possible explanation to its inner development -taking into account it was a rite of passage- we apply the Turner’s phases of the ritual and the characterizations of liminal subjects to the main actor of the rite, the Egyptian king.
