| Sumario: | Abstract: Alstroemeria spathulata C. Presl. is an endemic species described for central Chile that is recorded
here for the first time in Argentina (Mendoza, Malargüe Department) in a locality close to the border
with Chile. The species is described and illustrated with field photographs and environmental notes
are provided regarding habitat and possible pollinator of the specimen collected. A geographic
distribution map of the species in Argentina and Chile is provided; the morphological identification
is also corroborated with molecular analysis of the collected specimen and another one found in
the herbarium SI. Finally, a dichotomous key is provided for 12 Alstroemeria species recorded for
Argentina, including the new record. |
