Sumario:The population's social representations about judges in Brazilian justice are studied. The objectives of this research are to describethe social representations of judges from the perception of different social groups in the micro-region of São Lourenço, belonging to the southern and southwestern mesoregion of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This investigation is exploratory in character with a quanti-qualitative approach, interview was used for data collection. There were 10 participants in the research, in prison units, with times previously scheduled with the prison board; 10 family members of victims and ordinary citizens in clinics; 10 judges and 10 experts by email. The results showed that experts and judges, both professionals in the judiciary system, always make it clear that there is an accumulation of work, recognize the slowness of the Brazilian justice and its ineffectiveness due to excessive bureaucracy, while the imprisoned peoplerecognize that the law needs to be effective, but according to the thinking of some it has loopholes, maybe that's why it's flawed.
