Sumario:The current territory of Trujillo, a coastal city in northern Peru, was occupied by various pre-Columbian cultures throughout history. With the arrival of European conquerors in the 16th century, started a process of admixture that continues to this day. The goals of this article are to identify and characterize autochthonous and allochthonous Y chromosome lineages in the population of Trujillo, and to compare its settlement processes with those seen in Argentinian populations. We analyzed paternal lineages by focusing on the non-recombinant region of the Y chromosome. An allele-specific amplification method was used to identify biallelic markers (SNPs) that determine autochthonous and allochthonous haplogroups for America, in multiplex PCR-AFLP reactions. As expected, this population showed a predominantly native ancestry, with high influence of European lineages.
