| Sumario: | This article reviews the legal background of the "Tratado de la Hidrovía" and its privatization in the mid-1990s. At the same time, it analyzes how the end of the concession was treated and identifies the core of the current discussion. Then, the way in which the grain trade was operated in the country is described and how the system was modified in light of numerous deregulations that affect the Basin and the operations of the ports that make it possible. The work also gives an idea of the economic importance of this waterway in the context of the Argentine economy. It characterizes the behavior of the exporting firms and the different actors involved. Finally, the main conclusions are drawn. |
