The study was meant to explore the conceptualizations of the writing system built by children, youth and adults with intellectual disability, who attend Special Education Schools and Elementary Literacy Centers in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. This article will develop the origin of the investigation, the cualitative methodological approach used to build the object of study, and the main results obtained from young and adult population with intellectual disability. In the conclusions, the pedagogic consequences involved in such results will be discussed for future research reference. Este artículo busca compartir los resultados de una Tesis de Maestría por la Universidad de La Plata, cuyo propósito es indagar desde un enfoque constructivista las conceptualizaciones sobre el sistema de escritura producidas por personas con discapacidad intelectual que concurren a Escuelas de Educación Especial y a Espacios de Alfabetización Inicial en la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. Para esto desarrollaremos la génesis de la investigación, el abordaje metodológico de generación conceptual utilizado para la construcción del objeto de estudio y los principales resultados alcanzados en torno a la población joven y adulta con discapacidad intelectual.
