| Sumario: | This work aims to contribute with some theoretical and empirical tools to the discussion on infrastructures and mobility from a historical-spatial point of view. In particular, based on the study of the construction of the Carretera Austral during the chilean civic-military dictatorship (1973-1990) and its relationship with previous mobilities in the Aysén region (Western Patagonia). To this end the notion of road’s biography as platform, still incipient and developing, is proposed to think about the link between roads, societies, and territories from the movement. In this context, we wonder: does the path invent its own circuits or rewrite trajectories already drawn? In methodological terms, based on the review of ministerial files, newspapers, magazines and official documents, the problem will be addressed taking as axes of analysis the different circulation patterns and the socio-territorial rhythms that defined the Carretera Austral and its relationship with the roads and mobilities prior (or alternatives) to its construction. |
