| Sumario: | Meister Eckhart wrote texts in German and Latin. However, outside the field of Eckhartian studies, he is primarily known for his German works. Of his Latin works, the less frequented texts are the so-called “Latin sermons”: a series of notes or drafts that could have served as preparatory material for what Eckhart himself refers to as the Opus sermonum in the Prologus generalis in Opus tripartitum. In Spanish, the fate of Eckhart's Latin works has not been very fortunate so far. There are few translations. As for the Latin sermons, none have been translated yet. We offer here the translation of one of these sermons, number XXXVII, in which Eckhart comments on a text from Paul (Ephesians 4:1-6): Unus deus et pater omnium. In the preliminary study, we provide (1) an introduction to Eckhart's Latin works and the Latin sermons and (2) a commentary on the text. |
