Sumario:In order to understand the deterioration of the living conditions of an increasing part of the workers in Argentina, it is essential to analyze the social distribution of reproductive work, and in particular its gendered dimension. Criticism of political economy and feminist economics provide fundamental elements to analyze the transformations in the employment structure in light of the sexual division of labor, but also of changes in household income. The massive incorporation of women into the economically active population did not erase the inequalities that are sustained around salaried work. The income of women continues to be lower and at the same time, the differences between those who were inserted as precarious workers and those who accessed sheltered jobs widened. For the former, the weight of social policies to complete their income is noticeable. In this sense, we say that conditional income transfers work as a complement to low wages and, therefore, are a condition for the possibility of a social distribution of reproductive jobs that fuels inequality.
