Her centrality in the disciplinary field transcended her theoretical, historical, and analytical contributions, as she had the gift of writing with simplicity, making complex notions or concepts easy to understand. Her work is often an inexhaustible source of ideas. It is also worth highlighting another aspect that we consider fundamental to the growth of the disciplinary field of which she was a pioneer: her enormous generosity, as she dedicated a good part of her time, patience, and kindness to training the disciples who today make up this field. This is the motivation for preparing and publishing this dossier. La obra de Martha Bechis fue prolífica y abrevó en marcos teóricos diversos -teoría de las catástrofes, del caos o de los cambios discontinuos y del juego y del drama, la cibernética, el análisis del discurso y de las formaciones del estado- y reflexionó permanentemente  sobre la etnohistoria de la Panaraucanía. Su centralidad en el campo disciplinar trascendió sus contribuciones teóricas, históricas o analíticas pues tenía el don de escribir con sencillez, haciendo que nociones o conceptos complejos resultaran fáciles de comprender, por lo que sus trabajos suelen ser disparadores inagotables de ideas. Además cabe destacar otro aspecto que consideramos fundamental en el crecimiento del campo disciplinar del que fue pionera: su enorme generosidad, ya que dedicó buena parte de su tiempo, paciencia y amabilidad a formar discípulos que hoy integran ese campo, de ahí la motivación para la preparación y publicación de este dossier. A obra de Martha Bechis foi prolífica e se baseou em diversos referenciais teóricos -teoria da catástrofe, teoria do caos, teoria da mudança descontínua, teoria do jogo e do drama, cibernética, análise do discurso e formação de Estados- e ela refletiu constantemente sobre a etnohistória da Pan-Araucanía. Sua centralidade no campo disciplinar transcendeu suas contribuições teóricas, históricas e analíticas, pois possuía o dom de escrever com simplicidade, tornando noções ou conceitos complexos fáceis de entender. Sua obra é frequentemente uma fonte inesgotável de ideias. Vale destacar também outro aspecto que consideramos fundamental para o crescimento do campo disciplinar do qual foi pioneira: sua enorme generosidade, dedicando boa parte de seu tempo, paciência e gentileza à formação dos discípulos que hoje compõem esse campo.
