In regular readings of the hard-boiled fictions, the main interpretations tend to emphasize a number of elements; without being exhaustive: power, violence, corruption, money, “real” crimes, stereotyped gender roles, sexism, individuality and the representation of marginal subjectivities. However, when (re) reading the foundational texts of the hard-boiled fiction written by one of its founders, Raymond Chandler, I also find representations of the family: there are conjugal, paternal, maternal, fraternal and sisterly tensions that, in most novels, involve substantive aspects for the development of their plots. Even the detective’s own figure, usually designated as a lonely individual, shows a certain porosity. The objective of my work, therefore, is to describe and analyze these types of configurations in the seven complete novels starring Marlowe: The Big Sleep (1939), Farewell, My Lovely (1940), The High Window (1942), The Lady in the Lake (1943), The Little Sister (1949), The Long Goodbye (1953) and Playback (1958). On the conclusions, I highlight the omnipresence of this dimension throughout the entire series of novels (regardless of whether or not it is a necessary element for the genre). En las lecturas habituales de la vertiente negra de la literatura policial, las interpretaciones principales tienden a enfatizar una serie de elementos; sin ser exhaustivos: el poder, la violencia, la corrupción, el dinero, los crímenes “reales”, los roles estereotipados de género, el sexismo, la individualidad y la representación de subjetividades marginales. Sin embargo, al (re)leer los textos fundacionales de la hard-boiled fiction escrita por uno de sus fundadores, Raymond Chandler, nos encontramos, asimismo, con representaciones de lo familiar: hay tensiones conyugales, paternales, maternales, fraternales y sororas que, en la mayoría de las novelas, implican aspectos sustantivos para el desarrollo de sus tramas. Incluso la propia figura del detective, usualmente señalado como un individuo solitario, demuestra cierta porosidad. El objetivo de nuestro trabajo, por lo tanto, radica en describir y analizar este tipo de configuraciones en las siete novelas completas que tienen a Marlowe como protagonista y narrador: El sueño eterno (1939), Adiós, muñeca (1940), La ventana alta (1942), La dama del lago (1943), La hermana pequeña (1949), El largo adiós (1953) y Playback (1958). En las conclusiones, destacamos la omnipresencia de esta dimensión a lo largo de toda la serie de novelas (independientemente de si se trata o no de un elemento necesario para el género).
