| Sumario: | The aim of this article is to present an overview of the open access repositories ofHigher Education Institutions in Mexico. An analysis of eleven repositories throughthe first phase of the SCOT methodology was carried out, highlighting, on one hand,the advantages of including academic production in this type of repositories and, onthe other hand, the challenges that this may have for the authors at a personal level,and fot the institutions by those responsible for them. Elements of discussion areprovided for the academic and scientific community that decides to get involved inthis topic. The repositories of the Mexican IES registered with the largest number ofOpenDOAR (one of the most widely accepted directories worldwide) resources areanalyzed and it is concluded that these repositories are an interesting alternative forthe visibility of resources, which maintains a growing trend in quantity and quality ofresources housed in the open access repositories, it is also important to evidence andimplement policies and procedures that ensure their quality and train the personnelinvolved in the maintenance of the repository, since it requires a holistic work team. |
