Sumario:This study analyzes information mediation actions carried out by the José Sarney Municipal Public Library, in São Luís, Maranhão, between 2023 and 2025, focusing on the promotion and strengthening of local popular culture. The research is exploratory and descriptive, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, and adopts bibliographic review and documentary research as methodological procedures, based on institutional reports and posts from the library’s Instagram profile. The data were organized in a spreadsheet and examined through content analysis, considering year, month, activity, description, target audience, and dimensions of information mediation. The results identified 138 actions, a significant part of which was related to Maranhão’s popular culture, with the highest overall number of activities in 2023 and the highest proportional concentration in 2024. The aesthetic and formative dimensions predominated in activities focused on popular culture, along with actions associated with the dialogical, ethical, and political dimensions. The initiatives were concentrated in periods related to Carnival, June festivities, folklore celebrations, the anniversary of São Luís, and Black Awareness Month, mainly reaching children, young people, school groups, adults, and women. The study concludes that the library acts as a space for cultural mediation, belonging, citizenship, and appreciation of local identities. ARK CAICYT: https://id.caicyt.gov.ar/ark:/s18511740/2xwkcwr1t
