The area of Puna de Atacama was densely visited and described, mainly by the end of the XIX Century, during the Chilean control, and in the first decades of the XX Century with its incorporation to Argentina. The accounts provided by these travellers, government officials and scientists became powerful tools for the creation of an imaginary functional to the interests of the States they belonged to. The aim of this paper is to analyse the texts written by some of these travellers, focusing on their observations regarding domestic architecture. Thus, existing close links among the discourse on the environment, population and architecture shall be observed. La littérature des voyageurs est devenue une source privilégiée pour l’étude de représentations géographiques dans ces derniers temps. La Puna d’Atacama a été une région amplement parcourue et décrite, en particulier vers la fin du XIXème siècle quand elle se trouvait sous contrôle chilien, et dans les premières décennies du XXème quand elle fut incorporée a l’Argentine. Les récits de ces voyageurs, fonctionnaires et scientifiques se sont constitués dans des outils puissants pour la création des imaginaires fonctionnels aux intérêts des États auxquels ils appartenaient. Dans ce travail on analysera les textes de certains de ces voyageurs, en s’intéressant particulièrement aux observations qu’ils ont fait sur l’architecture domestique de la Puna. De cette manière on pourra considérer l’existence des liens étroits entre les récits concernant l’environnement, la population et l’architecture. La literatura de viajeros se ha convertido en los últimos tiempos en un material privilegiado en el estudio de las representaciones geográficas. La Puna de Atacama fue un área densamente recorrida y descripta especialmente a finales del siglo XIX, cuando estuvo controlada por Chile, y en las primeras décadas del siglo XX, con su incorporación a la Argentina. Los relatos de estos viajeros, funcionarios y científicos se constituyeron en poderosas herramientas para la creación de imaginarios funcionales a los intereses de los estados a los que pertenecían. En este trabajo se analizarán los textos de algunos de estos viajeros con la mirada puesta en las observaciones que realizaron sobre la arquitectura doméstica puneña. De este modo se podrán considerar los estrechos vínculos existentes entre los discursos sobre el ambiente, la población y la arquitectura.
