| Sumario: | This article analyses the enigmatic figure of the blond boy, who intervenes in central moments throughout the plot of Zama, the iconic novel by Antonio Di Benedetto. To this end, it proposes as a reading hypothesis that the character is a rewriting of the divine figure of the Hermes psychopompos or conductor of souls to the Hades. From the detailed commentary on the four apparitions, it is possible to sustain this intertextual motif with the classical Greek myth and at the same time to rethink the enunciation of the whole novel –in connection with a line of contemporary Latin American literature– as the expression of the voice of the dead protagonist. |
