During carnival various performances of cultural appropriation took place, one of the most notable of which was that of white men in blackface. This article examines the phenomenon of blackface carnival ensembles, beginning with the first and best known, Los Negros. On the basis of an exhaustive examination of primary sources, I review its main features and possible connections with transnational culture and propose an interpretation of its performances at carnivals.     El carnaval porteño del último tercio del siglo XIX fue una arena para la negociación de las diferencias étnico-raciales en la que era una de las urbes más multiétnicas y de población cambiante del planeta. Durante el carnaval se realizaban diversas performances de apropiación cultural, una de las más notables de las cuales fue la de los blancos que se disfrazaban de negros. Este trabajo apunta a emprender una indagación sobre el fenómeno de las comparsas de falsos negros, comenzando por la primera y más conocida, Los Negros. Sobre la base de un trabajo exhaustivo de fuentes primarias, revisaré sus rasgos principales y sus conexiones posibles con la cultura transnacional y avanzaré en un análisis de las performances que pusieron en juego en los carnavales.  O Carnaval de Buenos Aires do último terço do século XIX foi uma arena de negociação das diferenças étnico-raciais, em uma cidade que foi uma das mais multiétnicas e de população diversa do planeta. Durante o Carnaval ocorreram várias performances de apropriação cultural, sendo uma das mais notáveis a de brancos se disfarçando de negros. Este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar uma investigação sobre o fenômeno das trupes de falsos negros, começando pela primeira e mais conhecida, Los Negros.
