Sumario:The article analyzes the appropriation, distribution and management of elementary resources by household units in Cruz del Eje department (Córdoba, Argentina). The essence of this process allows us to visualize the economic and social effects that small peasant producers experience because of the expansion of the livestock frontier upon areas considered “marginal”. In this scenario, we conclude that there is currently a socio-territorial reconfiguration, which forms a framework of inequality in the territory: peasant families suffer from water shortage; they have problems with securing ownership their lands; and they are forced to migrate to urban centers.
