Sumario:Although Bourdieu has not worked explicitly the problematic of urban poverty, his analytic categories constitute an important frame of reference from which it can be built an approximation to the study of that particular aspect of the social reality. The notions of “poverty”, “marginalization”, and different points of view of the “strategic” perspective are analyzed through the theoretical and methodological reflections that an investigation performed in a poor quarter of Cordoba has sustained. With the purpose of overcoming the dichotomy between theory and practice and in order to show the reliability of these concepts to explain and understand certain aspects of poverty , when considered as a relational and historic problem, this paper pretends to contribute to the creation of knowledge in the matter of the reproduction of society and its mechanisms of domination-dependence.
