| Sumario: | Throughout the work we analyze the political connotations of the debate on the diets of the deputies that took place in the Constituent General Congress of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata in mid-1825. And we do so under the assumption that this debate not only accounted for the process of professionalization of politics by defining the figure of the legislator. It also made visible the fiscal or financial conditions of the provinces to ensure their representation in congress, as well as their reluctance to contribute to the configuration of a national income that would support it. But we also verified that, for this very reason, such a debate evidenced the growing opposition of the two political conceptions that were beginning to be outlined more clearly in the congress, their strategies and internal contradictions in order to agree on a system under which to organize a center of unity. |
