| Sumario: | The aim of this article is to put in dialogue the central guidelines of Rosa Congost´s proposal regarding “A new social History of the rural world” with the domestic historiography. In the frame of the historiographic renewal of the River Plate region´s rural studies of the last decades, the contributions of Jorge Gelman´s investigations concerning property rights on lands, social groups, power relations and the state building in Buenos Aires countryside are pointed out. In the first place, the central results of this renovation at the theoretical-methodological and heuristic levels are reviewed and secondly the analytical potential of the bottom-up approach for the development of new social studies in the rural world is highlighted. |
