Sumario:This paper presents the results of the archaeological research in the department Villaguay, located in the center of the province of Entre Rios. In order to achieve a first approach to the archaeological record of the region, field work is focused on Gualeguay River and its major tributaries. From surveys conducted archaeological sites were detected in surface position composed of lithic and pottery. The presence of lithic artifacts in this area are not recorded natural outcrops near the archaeological sites used to evaluate the existence of a circulation circuit of raw materials between the interior plains and the Uruguay River in pre-Hispanic times. Finally the presence of pottery let us argue that at least some of the sites surveyed correspond to late Holocene.
