The methodology involved archaeological surveys (both aerial and surface) combined with a literature review. These data were later analyzed using paleodemographic, architectural, and spatial approaches. Results indicate that the population of Pueblo Viejo de Cumias ranged between 500 and 1,000 individuals, and that the expressions of the kancha building at the site display clear morphological, technological, spatial, and functional differences compared to other state manifestations. These findings allow discussing relevant issues such as inka decimal administration and urban planning. In conclusion, the study highlights the significance of the concepts of population and kancha as key pillars for understanding the imperial infrastructure established by the Inka in the Andean region.
