Sumario:This paper explores some problems resulting from the study of classic texts from a gender perspective. As I intend to show, there are certain difficulties that arise in an investigation of this kind which are not necessarily or directly related to its object of analysis. In particular, the review of these issues will be based on the investigation that led to my doctoral thesis, which dealt with gender constructions in Apuleius’ Metamorphoses.
