Sumario:The increase in cases regarding legal parentage involving more than one legal system and the complexity of the global scenario is evident, especially considering the impact of biomedicine and of the various forms of families legally recognized. The practice of cross-border surrogacy has surfaced numerous situations in which human rights are violated, particularly those of the children born through this technique and the surrogate women. In this context, The Hague Conference on Private International Law has added this issue to its agenda with the aim of providing greater predictability, certainty, and continuity of legal parentage in international situations to the persons involved taking into account their human rights. The aim of this paper is to review the work done in this area so far, highlighting progress and addressing remaining challenges in the search for uniform solutions to such a sensitive matter
