Sumario:Many definitions and perspectives of analysis about democracy circulate, there are substantive, formal, political, plebiscite, genuine, socialist, popular, conservative, republican, and adjectives follow. Today new "democracies" are listed. Deliberative Democracy, anti-politics, radical, feminist..Democracy "illiberal", or also of "competitive authoritarianism", or democracy dominated by a "right-wing populism", or by "new rights" or "post- fascism" democracy. What should be done with the concept of democracy? It adjectives it and enunciates it in different ways both to defend and exalt it as to criticize or degrade it. The limits, scope, possibilities and conditions of democracy generated not only theoretical and academic debate, but also fueled conflicting, contradictory and exclusive political and social praxis. This statement, which seemed to be lacking in actuality, was dramatically and paradoxically revived by the hand of the so-called "cracks" that have \nreappeared in various forms. In the face of such a dispersion of the academic and political debate on democracy, a wide range of contradictions opens up on the issue. What is democracy; what are its limits, its scope, its minimum objectives? What will every ordinary citizen understand by democracy, not abstract, but situated before his objective conditions of existence and his economic-social situation? The epistemic and methodological need arises to find a certain basis for defining the concept of democracy, to measure the possibilities of expansion and construction/consolidation of the category, and the process of its construction, and the degrees of consensus that variables yield.
