Sumario:An archaeology of the experiences of transitional justice shows that, in the ancient world, the recovery of the social fabric after traumatic episodes of internal violence could take various forms depending on the circumstances surrounding each pacification attempt. The aim of this paper is to discuss a particular case, that of the small island of Telos, which according to an epigraphic testimony published in 2010 (IG XII.4.132) decided to institute two different ways, consecutively, to reassure the political reestablishment of the community. Not unlike today, this unique example of a double mechanism of legal imposition is indicative of the fact that, already in the Hellenistic world, the poleis used to resort to original solutions that they deemed appropriate to strengthen the democratic order in post-conflict times
