Sumario: | This work was briefly exposed in the lecture of the author's investiture as an honorary doctor of the University of Buenos Aires on June 29, 2022. Together with the gratitude to people and institutions (particularly, the Dean, Doctor Alberto Bueres and the Director of the Department of Private Law, Doctor Carlos Clerc), the work has a first part in which, recalling the author's origins in the world of Civil Responsibility, he shows what Argentina and the Argentine civil law doctrine have meant to him throughout of his academic life. These are the first part of what Yzquierdo calls "Hispanic-Argentine experiences."The second part of this work is a critique of the «new modernity». In the professor's opinion, animals must be protected, and animal abuse in any of its forms must be avoided. And it is also necessary that civil law deals with treating animals as beings in need of special protection, and not as another piece of furniture. However, what is intolerable is that animals can be considered as «people», and the duties that people have with them as if they were correlative to non-existent «animal rights». The absurd experiences lived in Argentina and Spain are perfectly comparable. |
