Sumario:Abstract: It is well known that the main purpose of the 1994 Constitutional Reform was to allow the re-election of the president. As a counterweight, during the bargaining many institutions and constitutional clauses were introduced in order to attenuate the characteristics of Argentine presidentialism. Taking this into account, the following article tries to analyze the principal features of the presidential system, from its origin to the outcome of the reform. In that way, the essay pretends to expose some dysfunctionalities that have helped to consolidate presidential power, rather than mitigate it. The cases of the Chief of the Ministerial Cabinet and presidential decree power are clear and perfect examples of this issue.
