| Sumario: | This thesis refers to the never written story of the argentinian industrial design inside the local industry, intersected by the immigrant descendant condition of its makers. This is demonstrated on this research by the genesis of four different project ways. This research studies the social-economic context and the state policies that favored the immigration. By choosing four cases the research allow us to discover the four project ways, which are overpass by narrative images through the voices of the main actors. The main points of the matrix this research are a historic cutout between 1963 and 1985.
To determinate the subject of study, this matrix beholds the following variables:
> The designer gets involve directly
> They arise from argentinian industry
> They are serial and massive products
> They have social impact and have been massive commercialized
> They were introduced to the market through an advertising campaign.
The first product which we considered as the starting point of the argentinian industrial design, is Siam Futura iron, designed by Frank Memensldorf, introduced to the market in 1963. The second study object is: IKA Torino Car, designed by the italian Battista (Pinin) Farina, commissioned by IKA (Kaiser Industries Argentina), between 1964 and 1966. The third case of study makes reference to Skel armchair designed by Ricardo Blanco in 1972 for Indumar. The last case is the POP flashlight produced by Eveready company in 1985, designed by Hugo Kogan. |
