| Sumario: | Title: Mercosur: a view from democracy and human rights. Abstract In this article we will illustrate the begging and subsequent development of Mercosur from a democracy and human rights, to show that Mercosur means much more than a trade and economic process. In order to explain that, we will develop the political background, which is closely linked to the democratic strength of member parties, as well as the relationship between democracy and the promotion and protection of human rights. Also, making a list of the Mercosur normative instruments and the organisms that had been created to deal with this kind of issues. After that, we analyze some of the most emblematic cases, to arrive in an allusion to certain deficits that regional bloc has. |
