Sumario:The global agenda around the protection of refugees is at a turning point. Since the adoption of the "New York Declaration" at the High Level Meeting on Migrants and Refugees convened by the United Nations General Assembly in September 2016, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was called to draft the text of a Global Compact on Refugees by the end of 2018. This article describes the process that is being carried out for the design of this Global Compact in a context characterized by increasing figures of forced displacement, nationalist and xenophobic tendencies but also innovative proposals.
