Sumario:Political Parties are institutions which require different dimensions for their analysis in order to understand partially their internal functioning. For that reason, overcoming the formal dimensions, the informal institutions allow a methodological advance towards a comprehension of the practical expressions of inequality in the exercise of political power. Women have been excluded from political power since their inclusion into these organizations, which is why this article will be able to verify in which ways, despite the introduction of a series of measures of affirmative action in the case of Chilean political parties, such as the gender quota, inequalities constitute an institution which women must coexist with.
